Are you in the middle of a long project, stuck? Is getting another page down feeling like a slog through swamp water? Or are things going right on plan — except that you’re ready to hear other voices.
Commiting to the long writing project and seeing it through can be a lonely venture, but it doesn’t need to be. Come work with a community of writers who understand the specific pains and glories this work entails. Ever two weeks we’ll read 140 pages — 70 pages of two people’s work every session. We’ll give feedback, support, suggestions.
Additionally, we’ll have a few generative excercises geared for novelists to help loosen the scenes that need nudges, and we’ll talk about some of the elements of writing a novel – -what makes a good beginning or ending, how do we maintain momentum, how do we keep track of all the character’s arcs?
Dates:
April 7: 1 hour to meet and prepare (in person & Zoom)
April 14: 120 pages 2 (2 people turning in 70 pages in person)
April 28: 120 pages 4 (2 people turning in 70 pages in person)
May 12: 120 pages 6 (2 people turning in 70 pages in person)
May 26: 120 pages 2 (2 people turning in 70 pages Zoom)
June 9: 120 pages 4 (2 people turning in 70 pages person)
June 16: 120 pages 6 (2 people turning in 70 pages Zoom)
Part two of this group will reconvene in August. We expect most of the same students will be in that class, but in the even somebody opts out, another new writer may opt in.
Miah Arnold will facilitate this group.
